Bully Dog or other brand diesel engine monitor

I recently bought my first diesel truck. A 2013 GMC 3500 ......I am wondering if I need to know the information that a monitor will give me. Isn't the gages on the truck enough information to safely...

Yes, Bluetooth wireless protocol.

I got an adapter from Amazon. There are plenty to choose from under $20. Here is an example.
