- 2112Explorer IIDepends on your trucks available payload, rear axle rating and the pin weight of the trailer. There are a few small, light weight FWs out there that "MIGHT" work for you.
- guidryExplorer IIShort answer, no. There may be very few 5’rs that it “could” handle but in my opinion you wouldn’t feel comfortable towing them. A bigger question would be why you want to move to a 5th wheel. Quarter tons are pretty much the starting point but there’s a whole lot that goes into towing a 5th wheel safely and comfortably.
- JIMNLINExplorer IIIHmmmm....depend on how heavy the trailer is. Some 24' 5er models have slidouts and approach 10k GVWR = 2000 lb of hitch weight. Others can work with your smaller size 1500 truck.
What is the trailers dry weight and its GVWR ??
What is your trucks GVWR and its RAWR ??
And welcome to the forum JD.
We get opinions all over the spectrum when some one with a 1/2 ton truck asks about towing a 5th wheel trailer. Stand by and listen :B
