That link is all speculation. Certainly hard to take it seriously when they guess the 2017 will have 990 lb/ft of TQ for bragging rights over the other two makers. So they'd leave it 10b/ft short of marketing gold, I don't think so....
OP- I would go with the tired and true 2016 LML. The Duramax 6.6 is a great engine and, with money becoming tighter in retirement, I'd want something proven than be a guinea pig that could leave me stranded while traveling and cost me $ when out of warranty. Now, i'm not saying all first year engines have issues- they do not. But we even had few mild teething problems with our LML and that's simply on evolution of the LMM.
I'm sure the next gen Dmax will be very good, but the current LML has more than enough power.
