you guys that pay almost sticker I laugh at. 65k out the door is a good deal for me if the dealer wants it gone. I,m not paying any more than I have too. worked in auto sales for 6yrs they can come down a whole lot more than you think. this money off invoice is a selling point for them. not the price they really paid for the auto.so go laugh all you want been there paid less.
Haha, you're so full of chit!
Almost $86k sticker, you say they'll come down 20 grand + TTL and whatever else, so more than $25k off sticker price? (You said out the door, not me)
I'm shopping for a new truck. You find me a 30% off MSRP Bighorn megacab 3500, either trans (cause that's what I want), any color but p*ssy pink for 30% off, I'll buy it tomorrow and give you $1000 for your time. Heck, make it $2k and I'm serious.
Reminds me of a guy recently towing a MobileSuites with a F350 DRW at 70-75mph claiming 13mpg average. I say "Barbra Streisand" - BarryG20ExplorerAs a previous poster mentioned earlier try looking at Dennis Dillon Ram and Dave Smith as well. While they have not always been able to beat my local price or at least not enough to go all the way up there, on my 2017 they blew the doors off anyone local by over $4k this time. I went through Dave Smith and got almost 18% off msrp listed 62k and change paid just shy of 51k for it. A quick look at Dennis Dillon this morning shows 18% off a longhorn dually. When I was shopping Dave Smith beat Dillon by $1000 and I did not have to use Chrysler Financial for the note which Dillon did require to get their price so I also saved on the interest rate on the note. Only issue with Dave Smith is you have to call or email them to get the real price they will sell it for. Yes I had to get up to Kellogg Idaho for it but the plane ticket was 200ish and they picked me up at the airport drove the 90ish minutes from Spokane to Kellogg. Everything was ready when I got there and was out of there and on the road in 45 minutes.
- wowens79Explorer IIICheck ou www.31dodge.com. They are a huge dealer in NC, and they have them about $14k off. That should give you an idea of what Pricing you can get. Tell your local dealer you've always wanted to camp in NC in the fall. ;)

Nice!!
I too was in the car business for almost 10 years and he is F.O.S.
There might be some additional money to the dealer that isn't advertised in the form of volume discounts, but often that money is used to discount the vehicle.
What a lot of people outside of the business don't understand is that the profits are smallest on new car sales. The real money that comes in to the dealership is in the used car department and parts/service. There probably aren't many dealerships that would be able to stay open if they relied strictly on the money they made off new car sales.
If you're trying to buy an "ad unit" vehicle, it's already discounted pretty deeply and there just ain't a lot more wiggle room in the price. - mtofell1ExplorerI never get hung up on incentives, invoice price or any other term de jour. Dealers and manufacturers just come up with all this BS to confuse consumers (and apparently it works). The only thing that matters is what you pay. The internet is your friend. Find a site like Cargurus and find the cheapest price and use that for negotiating with local dealer. At the same time decide if/how far you are willing to drive to get the truck you want for the price you want.
14% off MSRP on an expiring model year truck seems a bit light. Back in March of 2014 I got about 18% off on a 2014 model year Ram. - spoon059Explorer IIAccording to Rams website, they are offering "up to" $11,000 off a 3500 Limited. Looks like they are offering "employee pricing" plus $1000 customer cash. I wouldn't offer MSRP for the truck, I would negotiate at least to the "invoice" price (which we know still includes holdback money for the dealer) and THEN take any rebates or offers.
Without knowing the exact details of that particular truck its hard to give an exact guess at what I'd offer. Go to Edmunds True Market Value and see what they suggest as a good price. I always offer some percentage less than the "invoice" price before rebates and haven't had to pay more than "invoice" before rebates.
For whatever reason it won't let me select a DRW with a diesel engine. I'm not sure what I'm spec'ing incorrectly, but whatever. At the end I am able to "build" a $68,700 MSRP truck, with "invoice" listed as $64,400. That indicates to me that they can take at least $4,000 off your $83,000 truck, now making it $79,000 "invoice" price. With "up to $11K" in rebates available off that $79K price, $68K is looking reasonable as a starting point. I'm sure that you wouldn't qualify for all the rebates so they will negotiate up from there, but that seems like an educated place to make a starting offer. - Grit_dogNavigator II

Maybe you can disclose some of these dealer margins or a method for others to access them?
My last Ram purchase showed that dealer invoice was 9 percent off the MSRP base and 15 percent off options and packages. I could not find information on additional incentives to the dealership, but I did scrounge up all the rebates I could apply and still get an additional $500 off. - n0arpExplorer

You make the assumption that invoice is $65K or less. It's considerably more.
You make the assumption that they want 2019s gone. They most likely won't be in a hurry for a few more months.
You also sound like you expect the dealer to eat TTL. I suspect they won't. - midnightsadieExplorer IIyou guys that pay almost sticker I laugh at. 65k out the door is a good deal for me if the dealer wants it gone.
