Again, totally missing the point of the investigation. Despite Ford's PR quotes even they know it's a "gotcha" moment and so changes are being implemented to the EC and RC. I'd place a wager with you that the EC will do far better on the retest but, even if you took the bet after the dishonest links you posted I'd be unsure of ever getting paid out. I mean surely you can't truly believe it won't retest better.
Of course it will retest better. But will the change be as simple as those 4 pieces of metal that everyone is alluding to or will it be a lot more changes?
Sorry if I don't keep up with the model years of Chevy vehicles. Especially one 8 years ago. There was nothing dishonest in my intention so nice try on that one but its a fail.
As an FYI, only Ford make an extended cab lacking a B-pillar. For the last 4 years or so, GM and Ram "ECs" have B-pillars.
Just learned something. I thought they all were still making the suicide door pickups with the large hole. I'd say those designs would be safer by design than Ford's B-pillar-less design.
I'll finish by saying that for the last time this isn't about brands, but about missing front end safety reinforcements on Ford's RC and EC. Whether they still are ranked "acceptable" for crash testing is not the point, the point is that serious injury is more likely in some models than others and it's in an area (in front of the cab as opposed to the sides) that there should be no discrepancy.
It will be interesting to see what comes of this. IMHO if the issue is simply those 4 bolt-on or weld on pieced of metal, Ford should recall them all and add them after the fact. If in fact they do nothing in crash tests, then there is nothing to do.
IMHO it's the same as trying to compare a 2 door to 4 door or wagon of the same model. All will crash test differently despite the same name on the side. Or a sedan vs convertible. I'd think a 2 door Camry (If they still make them) would crash test different than a 4 door regardless.
You've got some people saying "look what is different" rather than "look what is different and here's the difference it makes in a crash". I still say the most interesting test would be to put those pieces on and let it rip. It would either vindicate Ford or make them look like villains.
