if you don't have any friends with RVs, maybe even take a stroll through a campground and chat up some RVers ... generally we're a pretty friendly bunch, and many like to brag about or bemoan the different pros and cons of our rigs.
as far as negotiating a price, its the same thing as any other major purchase. learn the features you need vs what you want, find your budget, low-ball the sales guy, and then walk away. don't worry you won't hurt their feelings, despite what body language they give you to the contrary.
