Several years ago, I needed a truck to tow a 32 foot fifth wheel. My son and I looked around the Pismo Beach area, and found a 4X2 one ton in Atascadero for less than $10K. It was a 1994 Dodge Ram CTD 3500 dually with 210,000 miles on it. Major selling points for me were the manual transmission and the Jacobs Rambrake exhaust brake.
Over the years I replaced the alternator (twice) and the water pump.
Other than that the truck was trouble free.
It now has about 280K on it, and is still going strong. I gave it to my son last year. Since it is not used for heavy hauling, he changed the differential from 4.10 to 3.54.
If I ever go diesel again, it will be a Dodge CTD.
