There's two Chevy trucks of that era in my driveway. One is a 2008, the other is a 2009. Both have been trouble free since new.
Consider yourself lucky or you drive a lot of highway miles and very little driving around town. A lot of these trucks would fill the crankcase with diesel from the regen process and is the main reason why GM switched to the 9th injector to address this problem.
I would still avoid one like the plague.
