This is what I looked for three years ago when I bought:
Stability control
Traction control
Roof Rail Airbags
The Ford with the 5.4L didn't offer me any better tow rating than I had previously had. I could have gone with the V10, but being the wife's daily driver we went with the Express with the 6L/6 speed combo. It gets the same gas mileage as a 1/2 ton Suburban we had but offers the capability of a one ton.
While my kids ask if we can get another Suburban sometime, not once have they complained about the bench seats. I figure they miss the Suburban because we would go off-roading more often with that then the Express.
