Go for the one ton van (E350 or Express) with the V10 or biggest V8 - our last van was a 3/4 ton with the 350 V8, and while it did the job, it was underpowered - 45 mph up long grades with a 6500 lb trailer. The diesels are even better, but you won't be doing the diesel any favors with a 6 mile commute.
Most of the one ton vans I have seen came with the factory towing package which includes the hitch, pre wired for lights and brakes, telescoping mirrors, transmission cooler, and usually 4.10 rear end. There were several seating variations available, from plain to fancy. Our old Chevy was a "conversion van" with high top and Flexsteel seating that was very comfortable. Our present E350 has the better grade seating with leather buckets front and first row, and a three wide bench seat aft - all very comfortable. Keep looking - they are around and make great family tow vehicles!
