buying at an rv show

Generally, prices are most competitive at RV shows - often find dealers with 'leftovers' they're anxious to deal. Strongly suggest you do some homework before you go if you haven't already. Be totally aware of the towing capacity of your tow vehicle and don't exceed it! Things like that. I'm sure if you search here you'll find posts with lists of questions to ask/info to know when buying an RV Go with a bottom line price in mind - ask for extras to be included (awnings, slide covers, better ac, etc) May not work, but no harm in asking!

We purchased twice from an RV show, although the sale was completed a few days later at the dealership. If you find what you want it seems like a good idea. Just understand that the sales staff is usually very professional, but many travel from location to location, working on a modified commission program, so they are very intent of closing the sale. They don't want you to think about it for a week and then go to the dealer, as the commission may be lost. So purchasing at the RV show may offer some highly motivated deals. But it has to be the right RV for you. Happy Trails.

I have never purchased from a RV show and would not unless I knew exactly what I wanted and what I was willing to pay. I would think you would be able to go the dealer shortly there after and get the same price. There are at least 4 rv show in WI spread out over the winter months offering "best prices of the year". A salesman at the show did say they get rebates from the manufacturer on trailers they bring to the show and that is how they can discount them. He also said there was more room for negation on price listed at the show.

My daughter bought the last years floor model and got a very good deal.

Don't forget that 100's of people will have gone through the camper you purchase at a show. Many put a protective plastic on the floors but carpets still get dirty, things get broken easily too. I was at one show where a camper had broken trim, the grasp handle on the outside by the door was partially ripped off and someone had put a nice scratch down one side of the camper. Make sure in the deal you make that the dealer will replace anything that gets broken, cracked, scratched etc. and will have the carpets cleaned or if you can live with those things, ask for more money off.

We purchased a TT years ago at an RV show. We had researched, knew what we wanted and how much we were willing to pay. The price was much less and we did not purchase the one at the show. It was ordered and we waited a few weeks until it came in to pick it up. Our daughter did the same twice.

My experience over the decades is that buying at a show is usually cheaper than what they offer when you walk into a dealership. That said, searching RV Trader will yield just as good a deal, sometimes better, especially if you do not mind travelling to pick one up.

If it can be sold for X amount of dollars at a show including transportation and costs to display at the show, it can be sold for less off the lot or negotiated on an ordered unit with no lot time. We just went to the big show in Tampa. Lots of beautiful RV's there. Prices didn't seem that great. Salesmen sure talk a lot of BS too. But I enjoyed it enough that I might go back today.

I saw my TT at a RV show and bought it about 3 months later from the same dealer at the show price. I just went to the Tampa RV show yesterday, as stated above the show prices didn't seem that great but I did see a few with sold signs on them. I guess if you have the money and a blank check any price is good. The ones that were sold were still open for folks to look at, if it were my recent purchase I wouldn't want it open for folks to parade through, but that's just me.

Show prices are never lower than the so-called Wholesale RV dealers. Call up Holman, RV Wholesalers, RV Direct, Lakeshore RV, etc and ask for quotes to establish a baseline to compare to the local shows. I also prefer a fresh/custom built vs. something at the show or dealer lots that many people have been in.
