BoilerEE,
I have an 2013 EC1160, and yes they are an extremely heavy camper, but my 2012 Ram 3500 HO diesel 4.10 Longbed crew Laramie handles is very well. Previously I had a 2011 Adventurer 910fbs that is 1,000lbs lighter on a 2011 Chev SRW 2500 Longbed diesel, but DRW Ram with EC1160 has much better handling.
The Sofa, large dry bath, big fridge, large floor space, loads of storage, make the EC1160 an amazing camper.
You must have a DRW, and you will need Super Springs, Front Timbrens and Helliwig Big Wig rear sway bar.
I consistently get 12.8-13mpg at 58mph.
PM Me, if you want to have a chat, via email, telephone, etc.
Happy Camping!
Hi Doug - yeah, I was checking out all of your posts about your 1160 before I decided on this one - looks like a great rig! I think your story also makes it easier to justify the 2400mile drive down to Washington to pick it up - heck, I'm getting mine in the same continent (and hemisphere)! ;-)
I'm actually curious about if Australia gave you any trouble about exceeding your truck's factory limits since from what I understand they're pretty "hands-on" down there with regulation (like for instance the fact you had to convert to RHD, put amber turn signal lamps in, etc.)
