Use care in your posting, no political stuff. I also suggest you refrain from making claims you cannot support. I hear people making claims as to how cheap it is to live in other states than California. To make such a statement is very foolish if you base it only on one thing.

I have friends that have moved to Nevada. Great if you do not need water and have no interest in trees.

How about Montana, great if you want to bury your water pipes 4 feet below ground. What does it cost to heat your house?

How about the East coast? No problem if you want to store your TC for 3 to 4 months out of the year. Lets talk about heating and cooling cost, and snow removal.

No problem, southern states are the solution. Hurricanes, tornadoes, bugs not yet identified by science.

I searched about ten years, but regardless of how I detest the politics, haven't found anyplace I would rather be.

CA is beautiful. Great climate. You can go from the ocean to the high mountains in a 4 hour drive. For us it isn't about politics. We plan to full time, or close to it so we will chase 70 degrees. Some states have considerable advantages for retirees. Things like state income taxes, pension taxes, vehicle registration costs, etc.

We are looking into becoming a "resident" of a retiree friendly state by virtue of a mail drop or very small cabin on a decent parcel that we can pay bills and register vehicles.

We have friends and family in CA and will always visit. I have lived here all of my 51 years and think as far as scenery and diversity of natural features CA is pretty hard to beat.

Wayne, I live pretty close to you in the foothills of the sierras as well. Pretty awesome country here. I certainly wasn't trying to disparage CA. It is expensive to live here though...

I was paying those weight on my 2015 F350 Dually but the DMV in Bishop told me that if I pull nothing but my 5th wheel rv then I was exempt from those fees; but if I hook up to any other type trailer then I am in violation. Truck mounted campers are also excluded.

And pockets of crime, etc. Never paint the whole country with one brush.

I don't know where they get their data, but most of Washington is definitely not best.

I have read this online in other forums. If this is true I would be exempt. We bought the truck specifically to haul the TC and a future 5th wheel trailer

It's frustrating that the official DMV literature seems to contradict what some DMV employees say.

I don't see anything false or exaggerated about it at all and can't see why you would take exception to my post. . It is simply my observation and opinion, and I see no reason to apologize to you.

As for negatives about California, I have a pretty long list. As for my intent, it was not intended to start an argument or find a Troll, just simply my conclusion after over ten years looking for someplace I would rather live after I retired. As it is, I just tolerate those things I don't like about California. It is a trade off.

I agree with you as I'm known as the guy with the "Dodge" truck to my local DMV. I was working on a slightly higher level of staff and had 2 managers helping me navigate my emissions debacle. One even took the dealership name for her husband to look at. Then I lost traction. Now I'm working with the 916 area code by you. I am a B weight classification (more money of course) and have everything in place when I'm finally approved.
I've also looked at the scale requirements since our company has multiple F450s with 14' flat beds. 8' and under is no stopping so your truck is fine. We travel the cannabis corridor and our trucks are "looked" at almost every time.

Reddog1, my point was you could have said "As it is, I just tolerate those things I don't like about California. It is a trade off.", and left your comments that you think are true (they are just your false opinion, btw) about other states out.

For instance, your comments about Montana are patently false. That's an easy one. Even it was true, it would only apply to those that provide their own water sources. Obviously, not true for the majority that live in any state.

We all have to make trade offs as you said later in this thread. That is "true".
