California Redwoods State/National Park Trip Report

Teri and I took the grandkids to the redwoods for five days of fun and memories. The boys fly out from Missouri every year to spend a month or so with us. The older boy just graduated from H.S. And this may be the last big trip for him, college and the real world is next for him now. Bummer to be a teen again.

This is the first trip I have taken with the Suspension up grade, new Rancho 9000s and Tembren SES. Wow what a differance from stock shocks and no overloads. I went from white knuckle driving @65mph to two fingers @70-75. I mean 55 officer. Took away all the rocking side to side and just handles like a dream.

Ok now for the trip. I loaded the camper saturday and was ready to go first thing sunday morning. We headed out 7am for a long day on the road. Destination (kamp klamath) Klamath CA. 367 mi with two kids are we there yet? The first few hours not to bad just lots of excitement of the adventures ahead. We planned some sight seeing in the southern redwoods on the trip up and the rest of the sight seeing from camp. First stop Confusion Hill, A fun and cool place.

Wow! It looks like you got very lucky with the weather. How did you like Kamp Klamath? Kind of a funky place, but they have a really good bbq once a week, with really good live music. Are they still doing that?

This was my third time at kamp klamath I love the funkyness. I dont like rv parks and this is one of only A few places with power and water I will stay at, not into the rv parking lot scene. they still have the BBQ but the bigfoot cafe burnt down two years ago.

I was born and raised in Crescent City. I love looking at the pics. My sister and I worked in about half of the businesses listed on the harbor sign!

P.S. More pics would be fine by me.

  • Thanks for sharing! I know posting that may pics can take a while, but speaking for myself I really appreciate it. Gives us another addition to the bucket list, LOL. Looks like an awesome trip. Truly one of our country's treasures. We've driven through there a few times, but never stayed and explored. Great memories for the boys too.
