Dicor or Proflex rv lap sealant. Do not use any silicone based product as it will not adhere to fiberglass or aluminum. I have never seen rv caulk products at home stores in my area. I purchase it online or from an rv supply store.
I see this stated so many times on the forum but wonder if people read it and then repost it without real experience. I used nothing but silicon on my HTT and never had any issues with it adhering to anything or itself.
I've also used it with good results. What you reference is a common occurrence on forums and is responsible for a lot of bad information being passed out. Some people just have to post something, and don't know anything about the product, they just heard it somewhere.
Fwiw, my posts are based on my own personal experiences. I have owned 7 rvs and have learned a lot over the years from my own mistakes, one of which was using latex or silicone based sealants on rv exterior surfaces. Eurethane based caulk specifically made for rv applications are made to bond to almost any surface and remain flexible over time.
