calling all ford owners

I'm only interested in a ford. Please tell me what model/ year ford truck you use to haul your truck camper.

I'm looking at this used 2003 f350 dually, but i'm concerned with many negative reviews I've read about the 6.0L Diesel engine
  • I owned a 100 percent stock 2005 F250 6.0 PSD that averaged 1000 mile per month before it was sold 10 years later. about 10,000 miles per year were either towing or hauling a camper.

Started with a 2006 Weekend Warrior FB2200 tag toy hauler over 11,000 lbs and went to hauling an Arctic Fox 811SB 4000 lb truck camper while towing a 20' Interstate 6000-8000 lb enclosed trailer the last three years of ownership.

Sold locally to a couple towing a tag travel trailer but have not kept up where or how it is doing the last two years.

Had to be towed once in 2013 due to failed high pressure oil fittings going to injector lines.

03-04 6.0 RUN... 05-07 Maybe. Anyone with or thinking about buying a 6.0 needs to watch one of Bill's video that compares the 7.3/6.0/6.4. Maybe on the second page of his videos linked above.
For two years I looked for a 05-07 6.0 that was not running OK to take to him (I live 60 miles away) and have him repair/guarantee it for $9K. Couple months ago I found a 07 King Ranch for sale that he had bulletproof two years ago by him. Found were the original owner sold it not running right after he put a Banks Power-pack ($4000) on it and now an additional $9K (seller had receipt) to make it the last truck before all the pollution stuff takes over. It now has a Edge with four custom tunes that really brings it alive and gauges to let you know if you need to back off.
  • I have a 2002 7.3 liter engine and it is the best engine I have ever had.
The 2003 6.0 diesel was the first year they made it. It has some inherent weaknesses that can be repaired for about $2,000 by a good mechanic. Keep this in mind if you decide to forge ahead. I would not recommend it.
  • Consider this guys videos.
Concentrate on the ones where he talks about the 6.0.
The first few years the 6.0 was not so good. Then Ford made improvements.
