More space and an easier and safer tow.
Of course, we can probably all agree on the space, but I'm not so sure about the "safer tow" with a fiver.
I have driven (or towed) almost every type of rv - A, B, C, trailers (single & double axle), 5th wheels (double & triple axle) and truck campers. Out of all of these, the worst handling was, by far, a single axle, 16-ft trailer. Pulling the fivers was easy, but could feel the trailer on starts and stops. Both of our truck campers (especially our current set-up) handles incredibly well and is very easy, and enjoyable, to drive.
Arizona is known for some incredible winds and our rig performs great and is very stable. We have even had several occassions when we didn't even realize it was windy, until pulling over for a pit stop.
I believe if the truck and camper are properly matched, paying attention to payload ratings, etc., the combo should handle as good, or better, than other rv arrangements. At least, this has been my experience, but I can't speak for others.
