As the OP I thought I would update this thread. To review, we have owned an 8'6 camper, 28 ft. 5th wheel and a 30ft travel trailer. We also rented a 32ft. Class A for a few weeks and travelled Arizona. I stated we would probably travel about 5 months per year in the camper. This may not be 5 months in a row so would have some down time. After sitting down and thinking about past experiences, we found the camper came out with the most pluses for us. I can't remember the exact details but it was 12+'s to 5 for the camper over the 5th wheel. The 5th wins regarding comfort and storage but we chose the camper for our type of travel.
We found an immaculate one owner 2007 Arctic Fox 990 that was barely used. Combined with our crew cab, diesel long box 3500 4x4 dually, we feel pretty happy with our choice. We leave for Arizona and maybe the Baja tomorrow morning. Let the adventure begin.
Congratulations Homefor2! I've been following your thread and really thought you'll settle for an Arctic Fox 29-5T because of the roominess of the unit and the beautiful kitchen for your wife.
I've owned and full-time in an Arctic Fox 29-5T and just recently purchased an Arctic Fox Truck Camper 811. I don't regret a thing. I travel mainly on my own and I find it so easy to travel with a TC. I am no longer a full timer but as soon as I have an opportunity I'm on the road. I simply love it! I also love to cook and have no problem preparing amazing meals in my TC. The kitchen is well designed, have plenty of storage and is easy to use.
I really think you're going to love the truck camper.
See you on the road!
