camper tie downs

just bought a 2015 Silverado 2500hd and i need to install tiedowns on her. I have quickly looked at Happijac frame mounted tiedowns and like the price compared to torklift. Do any of you have any experience or insight with these?

  • If you look at the HJ site you will see HJ have much better angles for the tie downs, but if you have money to waste get TL. You will need fast guns because in lot's of cases TL block fuel door, poor design.
  • Go with torklift, pricey but there will be no comparison in customer support. If you have problems you talk to real person that will listen and have answers. Their customer support is second to none. I have had conversations via telephone and email. They have even re-designed rear mounts for our truck at no cost and shipped the new ones from Washington state to Florida. Yes, we used to have the other kind too with button on bumper. Save yourself the aggravation, go with torklift. Good luck!
  • I would go with Torklift also. Much pricier but much easier to install and ultimately a better product as far as tie downs are concerned. Happijac need a lot of drilling.

I have happijac and had to reinforce my rear bumper (Ford). I bought a set of Torklift tie downs for the rear, but now I just put a Reese Titan hitch on, so the tie downs don't work...Back to the happijac. Hopefully the bumper braces (which were 1" too short out of the box) will work.

    Gman
  • Torklift stuff is the best, IMO, but it sure isn't cheap. The Happijac parts will do the job just fine, so it really depends on how much you want to spend.

No research required, go with Torklifts and FastGuns.

    X2
I have no affiliation with Torklift other than I have several of their products on may PU and TC.

Have you thought of doing a search on the forum. Many, many threads on this.

And many energetic and spirited disagreements. Which do you prefer? You'll find plenty of folks to bolster your choice and lots that will disparage it. :R
