Really,My Yamaha Rhino weighs 1049# without extras so it probably weighs over 1200# on the back of my trailer..I use 2-20,000# straps,one on each end because that thing gets bounced all over the place on these wash bordy forest service roads...Never an issue going on 13 years with the same straps..I carry extra ratchet straps(quality) behind my front seat for problems that may occur...

As far as using straps,I am totally surprised someone hasn't came up with truck camper ratchet tie downs..There are recovery straps out there rated over 30,000 lbs and ratchet straps rated at 20,000 pounds and only 2" wide...Working loads over 5K on the little ones.More than enough for a truck camper like you asked about..

They give alittle unlike turnbuckles and chains,a good thing for a TC..And some of the colors are awesome..LOL..That's all the truckers use to tie down there very heavy loads of lumber etc..Been there done that..

Some straps are amazing. And I agree, way better than chains or turnbuckles. There needs to be some flex there.

People miss that just an average HD ratchet strap rated for 20K and 5400# working load on both front tie downs is actually 40K in strength and over 10,800# working load..

I hauled lumber on a flatbed behind my Kenworth semi for years and all the truckers use for tieing the lumber down is straps with the ratchet built into the trailer...Never seen one break ever on some monster loads..Straps are an important commodity to truckers especially those hauling lumber..

Don't even think you can fit them on TC.
When it comes to common 1" straps, they come with all spread of quality.
I have a set, who I think can lift 2 tons, but than I had 1 who snap off holding 300lb machine on my flatbed.

This thread is interesting.... if the OP would have started his questions with his "reply" on page two where he states the camper he is looking at and his intended actions, his answers would have been more informative. When you ask vague questions like his original post the answers are going to be less than accurate.
He says he thinks he is being bashed on page one, but his answers could all have been better with more information in the question. I don't see him asking the wrong questions, just not enough information to give more answer than he asked for in his first post. I don't see the need to call "some of the answers rude and uniformed" The answers are what his original post asked for.

Nylon doesn't like UV and most of us prefer to camp under sunshine.
Nylon straps also snap without warning, while steel usually bends before giving up.

That's a dang good picture of how I have done it many times...Front secured to the frame and rear to the bumper...With good straps,that's as secure as any setup with a tough bumper ...I think why we haven't seen straps made for truck camper tie downs is the weather factor in the straps degrading to the elements....

For a one trip-get it home affair I think you could use straps and a bed mat for this light of a camper. The difficulty is getting the straps in place once the TC is loaded. Agree that the plastic liner is bogus. Most truck beds get scratched and damaged on the floor, not the sides. A bed mat from someplace like tractor supply will do the trick, less than a hundred bucks and you will keep it in the bed most of the time. Get a set of four ratchet straps from HF or HD and figure it out when you arrive. Find out what size the tie down opening is before you get there - the hooks in the straps need to fit or you will need to adapt with some kind of quick link. And get straps that are rated for decent weight, not for holding down a push mower. Pull the front straps opposite the rear and it won't shift much. Drive conservatively and like you are a truck driver with a heavy load and you will be okay. Drive like a crazed person and all bets are off. BTW, that applies to any TC situation. Make sure your tires are inflated to handle the weight.
