Camping in a tent only site

Sorry if this has been covered or beat to death but my search results come up with nothing.

Is this a discouraged practice or not allowed? In my thought process it would be fine, it is still a single vehicle and our CO is not required to be registered. Tent sites are just more readily available too.
  • I look at it the same way I look at Handicapped parking spots. You are or you aren't. A camper is not a tent the last time I checked.
  • KOA's seem to be the 'stickyest'. Pop-up truck Camper here. Nope had to pay for full site ~ even though we have no water;electric;or plumbing of any kind. The first person I talked to said they didn't allow TC. Mostly who you talk to. Have not been out much this year but sure gave me pause re; re-upping my KOA. I haven't yet. In fact I have seen ads stating "...no sleeping in vehicles..."??????

    JM2¢ ~~ YMMV
  • Not hard. “Tents only” means only tents. Just follow the rules.
  • I just left a CG where small cars and tents used big RV pullthroughs, so it's rude both ways.
  • Depends. We have stayed in many "tent" loops of campgrounds in a spot marked tent with the camp hosts blessing. They are often tent site because they have short parking or they may not allow a generator. Conversely we have stayed at places that strictly don't allow rv.

I think is park to Park, if your TC fits on the pad likely would be allowed. Might call and check with the park.
