Steve in Marin,
The secret you own is a TT. Rain, heavy rain is no problem for you, comfortably ensconced in your mobile chateau because you have floor space. For us on the lower end of the RV food chain, by design, we try to spend more time outside the box. We overcome. We adapt. We make do. We get used to it. (USMC)
I too like the cozy comfort of being inside when it's really snorting out there, especially with an aluminum roof. I always wanted to know how it would be to have your head inside a snare drum.
However, with an 8 foot, 6 inch floor area a small hardside TC seems EVER so much smaller if the rain goes on for a long time. The two-consenting-adult ballet goes on and on and the box gets smaller yet. Lavish lifestyle it ain't.
Further, as we go into Fall, Winter, and Spring in our little white box we have no worries about:
registration (of the camper)
parking
sightseeing
finding a place to camp
stealth camping
boondocking
wind
rain
snow (bring it!)

cold
ice
sand
beach
rocks
going down the narrow, rutted road less travelled
road surface
Notice i did not include Summer in the list of seasons above. One of our prime directives, now that we can, is to swim upstream when everyone else is swimming downstream. Unless we are under duress from our offensproingen, we avoid the high summer camping season all together. We slink around with little external resistance.
It's Bohemian. It is freedom. It's XTC.
regards, as always, jefe
