The more I travel the more I think NP campgrounds need more rules not less. Was there a reason not to book 2 sites for two different camp vehicles?
Just to make it clear. We weren't trying to save $22 a night by filling up the site to capacity. Lodgepole campround is very popular and was completely sold out. Dorst campround nearby is still closed and Stony creek was also full. Our friends just purchased the truck camper 2 weeks ago.
Sheesh...
So your buddy who didn't plan ahead like everyone else there with reservations gets to tag along. Him buying a camper recently or lack of other campsites availability. doesn't give him an excuse to circumvent the reservation system. The rules are there to limit the number of campers in the park. If everyone brought along a friend with another camper there would be twice as much need for facilities like toilets. Twice as many generators clanking away polluting the air and sound quality etc. The rules and the reservation system is there for a reason. At a minimum it would have been worth a call to the park to ask if 2 Rv's could share one campsite. The obvious answer is no.
The only time I shared a campsite was with a stranger traveling by motorcycle. He asked if he could put up his tent in our site. It was dark and raining. We asked the ranger when he came around and they made an exception to their rules due to the circumstances this guy was faced with.
