It's amazing how people will leave things outside their RVs overnight or even over a week-end when they are gone. Something they wouldn't think of doing around their home, but seem to think no one will touch those bicycles, etc. if they are left unsecured around a RV.
I would only say that in 38 years of camping. I have had only 2 things taken. One was an empty cooler, and a hat, and that could have been blown away.
It has been my experience that campers are not only the friendliest people, but also the most trustworthy, and helpful. I still do not lock my grill, or chairs up at night. however at Myrtle Beach. I do lock the bikes up at night. Lots of folks not from around here there.
Having said that. I do realize that many of the new breed of campers have not been taught to respect others, or their stuff. So it may be a little more prudent to be more careful
It isn’t the campers as much as it’s the unsavory locals. Both times we’ve had stuff disappear it was in coastal campgrounds not far from towns. A lantern, cooler, ez-up but the best one was the totally dead, bad car battery. In those days you didn’t even get much if anything for recycling one. Saved us from hauling it home.
