Can 19 Silverado 1500 pull 23rslw jayco with just a ball

Payload of my truck is 1826.
Towing capacity is 9400
Trailer is hitch 536
Dry weight 4800
Gross is 6000

I don’t have a weight distribution hitch yet just a plain 2 5/6 ball. Think I can get it home from a 2 hour drive?
Any reviews on this trailer also appreciated
  • Ok can someone post a picture of what I can pick up at local store so I can get trailer home? Every time I hear all these different hitches and receivers I have a brain fart. I will be buying WDH but need something for tomorrow.

    Safely, NO !

Plumb silly from information given, IMHO

OP states he just has a ball. Does he have a receiver hitch on the truck, and ball mount? Or is he planning to mount ball on step bumper? Bumper is likely to be to high, which lowers TW. Low TW and tongue high can both cause instability, so it is possible it will not be safe.
Another issue using step bumper is shape of tongue may not allow much turning.
But as to weight, home from dealer is likely gross about 5200, and tanks and battery mounted on tongue would increase TW, but likely not a lot over ratings.
  • OP’s max hitch weight is likely close to mine…970 pounds.
  • I don't see a problem, once all set up with proper WDH.
  • So once I get a weight distribution hitch it shouldn’t be any problem correct?
  • I would do it, but use caution/common sense, as to towing speed and traffic conditions. Your receiver should give a dead wt for hitch capability. You may be close, or over a bit, and that tongue weight may be higher than brochure states. If windy, may cause a little sway, so be aware. You are not the first to do what you are planning!

Good luck, drive safe, hope you enjoy the new trailer!

  • Load up the truck and trailer as if ready to camp and weigh everything. You may not need a WDH.
  • Yes! Absolutely! You’ll drop in the truck rear but not that much…2 inches. I level with air bags. I do think your tongue weight is too light. Shoot for 13 to 15 percent.
