Can I move my TC on a flat bed trailer?

Sorry for all the questions...just trying to learn about our new to us toy.

We purchased a 2000 Lance 1130 but have not moved it yet. Since I don't have any tie downs resolved/installed yet, I was wondering if there was any reason why I couldn't load the camper on a small flatbed trailer to move it home? I only need to go approx. 70 miles.

Part of the reason I am wanting to do this is because I actually want to bring the camper home and park it inside my barn so I can do some minor work on it. If I load it on my truck it will be too tall to fit inside my garage door opening. I was thinking if I load it on a small trailer then I can just strap it down and load and unload it one time.

It seems like there would be no reason I couldn't do this???...Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Phil

  • Yes it can be hauled on a trailer , but not just any trailer .

It has to have the capacity for the load.

It has to be narrow enough , including wheels to go between jacks . Or a fork lift to load and unload .

It has to have the axle set back far enough so it has enough tongue weight . A heavy duty boat trailer would work with some modification .

Some way to tie it down , chain or strap .
  • Where does the sewer dump? If it sticks out the bottom you'll need to raise the camper up off the trailer floor so it will clear. You'll likely need a tandem axle trailer to haul that much weight.
  • Never mind, re-read the OP post and I had misunderstood something.
  • Chances are , that's how your unit got to the dealer, on a flatbed!
  • Sure as long as the trailer will carry the load of the camper. How much does the camper weigh? Also make sure that you secure it to the trailer with 2" wide straps or 3/8" chain and chain binders.
  • The rear overhang on large camper would need to be accounted for.
    Would seller deliver?
