Can I tow this Large Travel Trailer Toy Hauler?

I currently have a 2011 SRW Ram 3500 Megacab with cummins 6.7 and was looking at 5th wheel toy haulers but the ones I like (ex, Voltage, XLR 380AMP, Fuzion FZ342) exceeds factory specs of my truck as they gross 16K-18K.

According to factory specs...

My 2011 SRW Ram 3500 Megacab has payload of 2600 lbs, max trailer of 12,950 lbs

We found a travel trailer toy hauler with a good floor plan (wife approved) that would work for us.

It has these specs
Impact Fuzion 303 Travel Trailer Toy Hauler
Dry weight: 8834 lbs
Hitch Weight: 1300 lbs
GVWR 13,000

My truck has an upgraded Curt Class 5 18K hitch.
I assume I'll need a beefy WD/Sway hitch.

Would my truck work well for this type of a trailer?

    I am looking at the same fuzion 342 and the fuzion 331 as well. I have the same delima with my '09 dodge 2500 6.7 from what I have read as long as you stay under the load ratings for the tires you are running and the axle rating the weight police wont mess with you. there is a guy on here that was a weight cop, dont remember his name, but he had a lot of good information on this subject.

    Not sure of the one your looking at. But our 2012 Heartland Key Largo shows gross weight of 16,200 lbs Our ready to go camping for a week weights in at less then 15,000 lbs. And we have the 5.5 KW gen in front, washer/dryer and auto sat, 4 door fridge and 3 flat screen TV. And 4 awnings so its loaded and should be at gross if they were going to be. And ours only puts 3200 lbs on our pin weight.

    Actual payload of that trailer is only 3,000-3,500 pounds. It can be hard staying under GVWR on tandem-axle toy haulers. Are even triple axles for that matter.


    Ah yes, I forgot the extra loading being put in because it is a toy hauler. there are lots of threads of folks who are conserned when it is not a toy hauler.

    Should be a good match, especially since you already have a class-5 hitch.

    The one thing to be aware of is the actual hitch weight. If you don't have toys in the back, all toy haulers are very tongue heavy. That trailer is probably closer 9500-10,000 pounds empty as normally equipped. Tongue weight will probably be in the 1700-2000 pound range if stocked and ready for travel with an empty garage.

    You still will probably end up over GVWR, but you should be able to stay under axle ratings.
