Can I trust that little gauge?????
Our 07 Dodge - 5.9 Cummins - has a gauge like this on the air filter The owner's manual says to depend on this gauge to tell you when to change the filter. In fact, on page 391 it says never...

I got one of those. I wasn't really sure if the thing really worked or not. We also had them at work and had so-so results with them.
3 years ago mine read it is OK (in the green zone) Air filter was probably 4 years old at that time. I looked at the filter anyway just to be sure. I mean really 4 years old and gauge showing OK? The paper filter was falling apart in one spot and coming apart at other areas. The filter was Wix, but remember real old. And I do think in my pick up year model with a 5.9 I think they had a little water problem getting into the filter. The company (Filter right) has a video or youtube I believe about how good they are. Question: How good can they be if the filter has fallen apart due to age or water? Probably show in the green zone forever. The failure that we had at work was mostly air getting past (so no air restriction so no movement of gauge at all). And some would suck air at around the threads onto air filter box. Lesson learned for me. I pull the cover and look myself at the filter.
