Can this be removed?

What is this metal inverted triangle under the trailer.? Can it be removed or cut away? It keeps on hitting the driveway when i back up on my driveway.
Can I remove it ?

Yup, that is what it is for. It rubs the ground like sled runners so you don't damage the rear of the trailer when going up or down steep slopes.
It's normal then when it rubs the ground? I'm a newbie with travel trailers.

Remove it and you may damage something else.
Can you lower the front of the trailer while entering the driveway, or raise the axles?
How to raise the axles? Looks like a lot of work though?
  • It's hard to tell from the picutre but if it's what I think it is, then yes.

My Dad's trailer had these. In the days before sizzer jacks used as stabilizrs, you dropped the tounge a little, put jack stands under these and then took the tounge back up to put pressure on them without using a bunch of blocks to reach the frame.

If you aren't using them for this purpose, removing them should be harmless (I assume they are only connected to the bottom of the main beams and there isn't something else hidden in the picutre)

  • If it is what it looks like it is. That is what it is supposed to do. It is designed to protect the back of the TT, and the sewer pipes by letting you know you are getting ready to drag. Some are actually strong enough to lift the TT as they drag.
You can take them off. But then you may at some point lose your sewer connections, or holding tanks.
  • It's supposed to hit the drive way. It's a guard to keep you from damaging the under side of the camper.

  • that is what it was put there for so you would hit it before hitting the frame or bumper but yes you can remove it if you want to
