That is a stupid amount of money to pay for a toy truck.

In contrast, the Viper powered 2wd quad cab 500 hp/525 lb-ft SRT10 Ram with a lot less amenities and a 7,500 tow rating had a sticker price of $52k in 2005 which is $68.7k in today's money calculating inflation.

I'm assuming Ford has more than adequate brakes/handling/ suspension to cope with the additional power. I say this because it's important to ensure performance is good on all fronts, not just acceleration. I'm sure Ford has addressed it.

I wonder when and if, Chevy will factory turbo the modern hot rodder's engine of choice...the LS V8 series.

I am genuinely happy for people who have the disposable income to throw at items like these.

In 2009 I found a sweet 2003 F350 Crew with an 8' bed for around $5k. Since vehicles from the southwest generally tend to be rust free (like my truck) required maintenance is all that is needed to drive something like this into the ground.

70 grand a bed large enough for 4 bags of groceries and a 12 pack. I'll pass. Another overpriced, overpowered wanna be toy truck.

By the time you've paid for it, it's shot anyway.

Kenworth T680 600hp/2050 torques is my idea of a sleeper truck.

Yes, yes sidecar. We already know that you hate anything new or anything that is not your old 7.3 and you sure as heck hate anything that cost over 40k.

That would surprise people.

One of my old customers modified his C15 379's to 1200 hp that were able to run 14's at the local track. It was interesting to look up the parts on the those trucks. He got so good that he had customers coming from all over Texas and southern US to modify their trucks.

Those trucks would surprise you on how fast the get up to speed. You would not thi k something that big can be that quick.

I am amazed at how many people here badmouth any truck that cost over $30,000 but those actually buying flock to the most expensive trucks that they can find. Ford has to use higher rebates to move the XL trucks than the Limited. Ford is selling so many top end trucks that Ram and Chevy are joining the bandwagon. I was a big fan of the 2nd gen Lightning. Loved the sound of the roots blower at WOT, and 380hp / 450 torque was enough for high 13 second 1/4 mile runs. On top of it all the truck could handle on a road course decently for full size truck.

Wouldn't tow my camper, but a ball peen hammer won't drive a railroad spike either, but doesn't mean it doesn't have its use...right tool for the job and all that.

I say the more choices we have the better.
