SidecarFlip,
Question I've wanted to ask you, but not about your Ford truck. What;s the orign of your name...SidecarFlip ? Do you have a motorcycle sidecar ?
Les
More than one actually. I have 4 bikes, 2 Triumph's, 1 a 2300 Rocket 3 and a Bonneville with a sidecar, hence 'Sidecar'. A 1968 Norton P11 A Scrambler and a Kawasaki KLR 650 ADV bike. Flip was my Grandfather's legal name (and what I go by, everyone calls me Flip, so it's SidecarFlip.
I make and sell custom Triumph motorcycle parts in my machine shop as a hobby. keeps me out of my wife's hair.
Don't ride much anymore but I keep all the bikes around anyway. Just like my 97 Ford Truck there is an attachment to them and they take up no room really. They sit in the front of the shop in their own area.
There you have it. I've been asked before on other forums I frequent.
Thanks Flip.
As it happens I have a 1967 Matchless 750 G 15 CS Scrambler, a bike that preceded yours on the AMC assembly line. It was originally sold in my burg and was bought new, along with a few more, by a local dealer, who got them from the Berliner Brothers in NYC. BTW, this dealer also sold some of the very last Matchless G85 CS Scramblers.
It was basically new old stock and the first owner (I'm the second owner)got them well past the model year and mine was originally sold and first registered as a 1969 model. Serial number indicates manufacture if I remember correctly, in August 1967. I register it now as a '67.
I had always wanted a Norton P11, but wasn't able to find one and I'm happy with my G 15 CS.
I also have an early Yamaha SR 500, which I bought new in April/78. I'm not riding much anymore, although I do take my son's newer BMW GS out for a spin every so often.
Nice collection of other bikes you have...the Bonneville, the Rocket 2300 (bet that pulls the sidecar well) and the KLR. Years ago a buddy had a '77 Bonneville 750, which I rode quite a bit. Loved the handling and that nice vertical twin engine.
