The mystery is solved. I don't think there is a way to post a picture on this site but I tested my theory about putting the kitchen slide-out out and I could immediately hear propane flowing in the stove and it lit right away and also the refrigerator worked. But as soon as I put the slide-out in the flow stopped. There is a rubber?/neopreme? propane hose that has a definite kink in it. I don't know if someone makes hoses that don't kink but that is what the problem is. I will call KZ to see what my options are since its still under warranty. They may tell me its not guaranteed to work with the slide-out in.
Next stop is to local propane dealer, not a filling station, but a true bulk dealer. They should have a shop that can fabricate a new hose that should not kink.
