Capture plate for super glide

Have you experienced this? The dealer installed the SuperGlide and the capture plate, and after 2 drives withy the 5th....approx 30 miles and while unhitching the capture plate fell off on top of the hitch plate. I reinstalled it, but is this common for them to come loose and fall off? Thanks
  • My capture plate was welded on which was a problem a couple of times. No body could pull trailer unless they had the pull right. I suspect you need to rotate in the tightening process until all four are tight. Maybe it is not centering on the pin plate as it should. Not sure about that as mine was welded. I do not recommend getting it welded on. You can call Pullright as they are an excellent company with great service. The will tell you what to do.
  • There are different capture plates and attachment methods for different pin boxes. My old one only had one set screw and nylon "pad". The set screw essentially pulled the plate forward. Seemed real rinky-dink but it never fell off, nor should yours. Can't tell you how to reaffix it without knowing which type it is.
  • Hmmm. Mine did not have set screws. It had 16 ( I think ) flathead bolts, countersunk into the kingpin plate. Lock nuts holding the bolts in place.
  • NeVer had a problem with ours. Agree with others that sets crews must not have been fully in. If it wereme I'd add some thread-lock and tighten them up.
  • Our capture plate fell off after a few months. They probably didn't tighten all the screws when they installed it. Now we check it periodically and it's been fine since.
  • Used a capture plate for years and it never fell off. They probably did not tighten the set screws.
  • My guess would be that they just did not tighten the bolts all the way...

The Capture Plate does not even have to be bolted on as once you are hitched up , there is nowhere for it to go...

Mine has 4 set screws in the corners that I tighten here and there..
