We have had a lot of storms lately with lightning.My TC is in the garage and twice the CO Detector has started beeping. Years ago the lightning would turn on my old fish locator in my boat,that was strange. Has anyone ever have this problem.

When i bought my first TC i know that if my battery got to low the alarm would go off. Had some bad storms before and that never happened to any of my older TCs. I went and purchased a battery operated only co2 alarm too for the camper just for peace of mind.

I should add that I live on a ledge and that my house has been hit by lightning twice before. The TC is a 2011 and the battery is new,plus it is hooked up to a smart charger. First I was thinking a power surge but not from a battery. I think it could be moisture in the garage. But I'm guessing.

Could be the excess ozone caused by lightning. Then again I'm just making that up.

I always like having at least one CO detector that has a PPM display. That way, you can tell if it is alarming for real, or if the alarm was caused by a stale dog fart.

....also, even if your camper is a 2011, check the replacement date embossed on your CO detector. These things expire (become ineffective) after some x date (4years? 5 years? 7 years?). I replaced both CO and propane detectors already in the 2005.5 camper; and they are again about ready to be replaced in ~2015.

RV's usually have three detectors, Smoke, CO2 and Gas. Gas one usually has the green light on it and is close to the floor.

Mine went off while camping. Was around other people that were running generators. Went off again at the house with nothing around. Looked at date and had expired. replaced with new unit and no problems now.

Yes it has a green light that is on all the time,when it is beeping the light turns red. The thing is very sensitive when you are cooking you must open the roof vent all the way, not just a little bit.But being sensitive is a good thing. Peace of mind while sleeping.

Does your detector have a light on it? I've read on another thread that if the light is green, the detector is good, if the light is yellow, it should be replaced.

Thanks, It could be from the shelf that is by the TC.I store weed killer and other chemicals there. I am going to try leaving a window open in the garage to get some air movement.

I carried my generator in my TC recently and hadn't switched the lever on the gas cap to off. My detector went off from the fumes. Could there be gas fumes where you store your TC?
I've figured it is not a good idea to carry generator inside.
