On topic, I will also venture that Ford will advertise close to 500/1000. Maybe they come out at 480/975 so they can up the output when the competitors follow.
I for one like watching the power wars. Today's trucks have twice the power at a similar MPG to the older, pre-emissions trucks. What isn't to like about that?
That said, I do believe there is much truth to the thought that happiness isn't having what you want, but wanting what you have. For those that always must have the most powerful truck on the market, you will be upgrading almost every year. My goal is to have a reliable truck that I like (which I do), and save some $$$ so that someday I can retire. But that is just me.
