fuel burn is the only thing you have complete control over.
except regens and 1/2 throttle use will make them happen less often.
Engines tend to produce their highest power per fuel ratio when they are run at wide open throttle and pulled down to the rpm where the engine produces it's peak torque value. So if an RVer has a unit that requires 130 HP to move it down the highway at 70 mph, he should get significantly better fuel economy pulling with a 4 litre diesel engine that produces 500 lb ft of torque at 1600 rpm than he would pulling it with a 6.7 litre engine that is capable of 1000 lb ft of torque at 1600 rpm and then backing the throttle way off.
