  • I wouldn't worry about it. With a TC on your truck, you'll probably need two spaces anyway.

Got it from jegs.com (not affiliated) very fast free shipping.
  • I had to drill a hole to move the folder farther away from the bumper for mine when folded. I didn't like it so close to the bumper when folded. I find mine pretty low because it sticks out so far unless I have a heavy load in back to change the angle.
  • Thanks for the replies, I will drill another hole, can't go to far back though because of skid plate underneath, it's up higher than it looks in pic, don't think it will scrape anything, the reason it is on the front is we have a 8 ft box on a 6 ft bed with the tail gate down and we can't get into the camper door with it folded up, lol, we are looking for a used long bed truck now.

I was going to say to cut the tubing off a little but, it probably would hit the grill when folded up.

So, if you can, I would drill a second hole in the tubing so the cargo carrier wouldn't stick so far out.

If your hitch has a plate in the back, then a second hole wouldn't work.
  • When they are installed at that level, don't they scrape the ground at times when there are dips in the roads at some intersections exiting driveways etc ?

When I used my front rack, I used a bent shaft that raised the rack higher. Someone here suggested to split the load to allow a gap in the middle of the rack , allowing better air flow for cooling.

  • You will get better air flow around that basket than some who have their basket closer to the grill. My only concern would be front axle weight with the extra leverage since we do not know what you plan to carry.
  • Is there any reason it's not on the rear? I used a hitch haul with my old popup and it worked fine. Never thought of putting one up front, but I've seen them on some rigs.
  • could you push it in and then drill another hole for the hitch pin so that you'd use that hole when extended and the original hole when folded. Not as convenient obviously but it does stick out a long way.
  • Got rid of my folder just for that reason.
Takes up two parking spots if you leave the hitch on the rear of my extended cab truck and always worried somebody would back into the carrier and crush it.
    Good Luck, Mike
