Go with a rack in front for either bicycles or a motorcycle.
Canoes and kayaks can go on the roof.
I take it you want to get back into some remote places so dragging a trailer will not be fun.
A trailer is great, but I have gone down "roads" that became impassable in my rig and had to back out almost a kilometre before finding a spot to turn around - I am glad at those times no to be pulling a trailer.
