After experiencing a failure with one of my highly touted Maxxis tires, I found some interesting information on the Discount Tire website. Trailer tires have a mileage expectancy of 5 to 12 thousand miles. Tires should be replaced after 3 to 4 years.
I have about 15 thousand miles on the Maxxis in three years. I rarely drive over 60 mph, yet have had issues with every brand of tire I have had on my trailers.
The latest problem was not discovered until I pulled into campground and noticed a section of tread missing and steel belt exposed. The fact that the tire held together maybe says something about Maxxis. Looking back, I probably drove about 80 miles after hearing a pop which I attributed to something other than a tire.
