The big win for eggshell campers (Scamp, Casita) is their longevity. However, I would NOT assume they can take dirt/forest road bumps better than a standard TT and I doubt they have any ADDITIONAL clearance.
The Scamp 16' and 5th wheel have a 3500 lb axle and claims R15 insulation. I don't know where the water tanks are mounted so they may or may not freeze. They claim 6'3" interior height.
EDIT : a quick check on the ol' interweb shows that Scamp uses a torsion axle. You can easily and inexpensively add a 3" lift kit. For more money, you can replace the 3500 lb axle with a 5200 lb axle and beef up the entire frame. This sounds daunting but it really is not !
