I am new to camping and looking for some good campgrounds in the central Ohio area and to meet up with some other campers in the area.
Hi and welcome! We're here in Central Ohio (Pickerington area) and we're new as well. Just 6 nights out so far.
Full hookup only eh? Well I completely understand - what I've found is that with a little conservation we can do without full hookups at least for a weekend. I don't question your preference at all and don't want to start a debate in any way. I just wanted to say if this preference is because of being new and a bit intimidated by the thought - do some research and maybe try it for a weekend. The link in my sig Ive kind of tried to keep track of my experiences so far. I think for a weekend we can do without hookups (as long as we have power for the Air!) LOL.
Ok. Sorry. To your question: Alum Creek is awesome but they only have one or two full hookup sites. a little farther away is Salt Fork State park - they have more full hookup sites. I'll be there in two weeks to see for myself.
Full hookup... There is a KOA out at Buckeye lake. Have not tried that one myself...
Lazy River out in Granville... I've driven through but never stayed. It's kinda out of the way but reports I've had from people that have stayed there are positive - ask for a site next to the creek...
The Hocking Hills are awesome! There is a full hookup KOA near Old Man's Cave but its expensive and I think you may need three day weekend stays in their busy season - and reservations. If you can go without full hookups Old Man's Cave State Park should go on your list - make reservations! I'll be there the first of October before we have to give up and get everything winterized.
Out Dayton way we sated a weekend at Dayton Tall Timbers KOA. (Nice but pricey.)
Need a home base for Kings Island - look at Cedarbrook in Lebanon... Great campground..
Stay in touch and I'll be happy to share first hand experience as I get it hahah...
