Besides, wouldn't this end up being an anti-trust violation with GM/Chrysler merged?
Flash back to the late 1970's when Chrysler encountered its first near death experience. While mulling over options in the event Chrysler failed to secure the Federal loan guarantees that ultimately saved the company, Lee Iacocca revealed in his autobiography contemplating a merger or acquisition by Honda or..........wait for it, Ford. It went as far as some secret discussions with Ford officials but was nixed by Henry Ford II. Iacocca had given thought to a merger with GM but believed such a deal would not pass Federal anti-trust review.
