Not trying to slam teardrops at all. And I have tent camped in everything from very small one man tents ( I've done a lot of motorcycle traveling/tent camping ), to very large field tents that had a wood ceiling beam running it's length. To me, anything I can't stand up straight in, have a dry bath in, cook and sit in comfortable chair in, is, "not much more than a tent".
To each his own, but in this case, the OP may be seeing these things with stars in her eyes, because it "looks to be something she can pull with her Escape".
At the end of the day, or at then end of being cooped up inside a small space during a rainy season, it's appeal could wear thin.
