Nope, in another thread you said that you do NOT have the towing package. That means you are limited to either 1,500 or 2,000 pounds depending on the model....you cannot ADD A TOW PACKAGE, it either came with it or didn't. No manufacturer publishes exactly what makes up the tow package....
What do you mean I can't add a tow package? That's what they are for! The Ford towing manual for the 2008 Escape says if you add the towing package you can tow up to 3500 pounds. Why would Ford lie? I could see a trailer company lying to sell a trailer but why would the official Ford Towing Guide lie?
Read again what I wrote. YOU cannot add a tow package on your own. The FACTORY can add the tow package at the time of manufacture.
You have absolutely no way of knowing what is in the tow package. It consists of many different components and modifications even down to which bolts are used in a specific application.
YOU can add things like a bigger radiator, auxiliary transmission cooler, trailer hitch, trailer wiring, but you still haven't added the tow package. Those additions will all improve the towing capabilities, BUT THEY DO NOT CHANGE THE TOW RATING.
