Ok; some of you need to say to yourself over and over and over:
Repeat after me: GEARS DO NOT INCREASE POWER! One more time: GEARS DO NOT INCREASE POWER!

A shorter gear will give you a better duty cycle, will get you more torque and get you out of the hole better in 1st gear. Now, what won't it do? (please see above) :B
