Charging camper batteries with generator?

How do you all hook up the generator to charge camper batteries? Hook generator directly to batteries with the battery cables or just plug the shore power cord into the generator? Speaking to a Northern Lite camper and a Honda generator.

    Definitely use the shore power cord. My Champion puts out 8 amps on the 12 volt connection and my built in converter/charger can dump in 45 amps through a 4 stage charger.

    Shore cord. Honda battery chargers are 8 amps at best, and not regulated. It takes long time to fully charge acid batteries.. so don't expect 100%.
