I have a 1997 Dodge, and unless your truck is wired differently than mine, I think you will be very disappointed in the existing wire.
When I first setup my truck/TC unit, I was confronted with the same problem. Enough battery to run the furnace can be quite a bit, depending on how cold it is. I tried different things, but found the best solution for me cost wise, was to minimize the furnace use. I installed a Wave3 heater.
You may want to take a look at this thread; Wave 3 propane heater. A quick search on google shows then for $200 from Walmart, or here http://www.amazon.com/Camco-57331-Olympian-Wave-3-Catalytic/dp/B000BUV1RK?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAIKBZ7IH7LXTW3ARA&&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B000BUV1RK&tag=wwwbookcompar-20&ascsubtag=54666ccd26a3dc4158e41329 for $163.
These use no battery. This is my fourth TC with the Wave3. I have had my current Wave3 since 2004.
