I have first hand information directly from a dealer about how the MAP system works. Has nothing to do with advertising. The rule is, "You advertise for no lower than $XXX, or we yank your dealership, period."

Nearly every auto parts accessory supplier has a MAP policy, so do sporting goods companies.
Go to the SHOT show or SEMA and talk to all the manufacturers/suppliers there.... they nearly all have MAP policies for the people that sell their products, here's a good video:
