Unless you kick into Anaphylactic shock from insect stings there is not much you can do except be careful and take your chances. If you are allergic to stings, you had better call a pro. If you do not know if you are allergic to stings, I would call a pro. Anaphylactic shock can be a very serious problem.
Obviously, stings certainly are not pleasant and should be avoided. However at times a direct approach is the must expedient.
Wasps like to nest in my BBQ so I crack the lid and spray; Then I come back in five or ten minute to check damage.
