I am downsizing to a more economical truck from my 2016 F350 DRW 6.2 gasser.I am considering the F150 with the 2.7 eco or possibly the 5.0. Also considering he Colorado.I know what I am getting with the Ford, the best shifting transmission available.I have never owned a Chevy, and would like any opinions from Colorado owners. I test drove a Colorado and couldn't get the transmission's select shift to do anything. I'm just unsure, but this will be a daily driver, so smaller is better.My initial thoughts are that the F150 is a more capable truck for about the same MPG.Gman

I think your initial thought is right. I had the F150 w the 3.5 ecoboost and I loved it. The 2.7 is, perhaps, even better except as a heavy tow rig.

If you're not doing any hauling or towing and you primary use is as a daily driver (grocery getter, luggage hauler) either one will work fine. Go with the one you can get the best bang for your buck on. If you need to regularly haul bigger stuff in the back (plywood, shingles, lumber) or tow something small you probably want the F150.

You are going to love that truck. Ford really has a winner with the F150 3.5L Eco.

I'm don't care for Fords myself, but this sure seemed like a no brainer to me, F150 is the way to go for your needs.

I've been driving the 2017 just like yours for about 9 months now, and really like it. I towed our travel trailer yesterday with it (don't do that very often any more) and am still impressed by the torque in this 1/2 ton truck. I think you made a great choice.

I love how manuverable my Screw with the 5.5 ft bed is. It's the perfect compromise for me between utility and commuting.

Well after long consideration, I went with the F150. This will be my first half ton since 2004.

Went with the 2017 3.5 Ecoboost/10speed 4x4 3.55 elocker, and 5.5' bed for city driving. STX version with pimp wheels and dynamic hitch assist and a trailer brake controller. For only about $2K more than Chevy wanted for a z71 Colorado, it was really a no brainer, as I don't even think these two trucks compare.

I had a 2014 F150 RWD Lariat Screw, great truck, 20 MPG with the 3.5 EB. Crashed into a 2004 F150 when it 's driver lost control on an icy road. Walked away with a few separated ribs from the seat belt, truck was SMASHED to the firewall. Have a 2016 same truck, but 4WD. It is getting 19 MPG. If I had to do it again, I would gt a used 2014 instead of the 2016. The light body and suspension makes towing a large trailer interesting, where the 14 was rock solid, the 16 tends to move the trailer.

If you can, wait for the 2018 models, they are supposed to have a more powerful V8, and better towing capacity. Hopefully they fixed the reason they are squirrely when towing.
